I just tried my Extra Hold Flaxseed Gel last night for the first time, and I love it so much that I can already tell it's going to be one of my new favorite holy grail gels! I still love my Silky Smooth Flaxseed Gel, but i live on the coast of NC and desperately needed a bit more hold to get me through our extremely hot and humid summers! This Extra Hold Flaxseed Gel fits the bill perfectly, and I'm really impressed that the extra hold hasn't dried out my curls that feel so nourished and moisturized while still having plenty of frizz-free definition! The cast was still easy to scrunch out the crunch, and the end result has been soft yet well defined curls with an extra oomph of hold to keep the frizz at bay! I applied a dime-size amount of the Powerhouse Protein Cream to my freshly washed soaking wet hair first, and then I raked a quarter-size amount of this Extra Hold Flaxseed Gel through my detangled wet curls next! Then, I scrunched my wet styled curls to enhance juicy definition, and I typically either air-dry or diffuse my curls until at least 60-80% dry! Last night I air-dried because I was too tired to diffuse. To my pleasant surprise, this Extra Hold Flaxseed Gel gave me a lot more volume and curl definition than I usually get from just air-drying! Typically I have to just accept the fact that air-drying fully is going to leave my curls flat and limp without as much curl definition when compared to the voluminous definition that I get from diffusing my curls to at least a minimum of 70-85% dry! This Extra Hold Flaxseed Gel is now my new favorite air-dry product, and I can't wait to see how good my results will be when I incorporate a little diffuse drying with this gel on my next wash day! Once my curly hair was 100% dry last night, I scrunched out the crunch, fluffed out my roots for volume, and this Extra Hold Flaxseed Gel left me with beautifully defined frizz-free curls that're bouncy with volume and feel touchably soft! To refresh thie morning, I removed my satin bonnet, fluffed my roots with my hands, spritzed my curls down with a light mist of water from my continuous spray bottle to reactivate the stylers that're already on my hair, used my hands to smooth down any bedhead halo frizz, scrunched my slightly damp curls to revitalize the definition, and I can even reapply a little more of the Extra Hold Flaxseed Gel if I need additional hold on subsequent refresh days or apply a tiny pea-sized amount of the Powerhouse Protein Cream after emulsifying it with a little water in my hands if my curls could eventually use a little extra hydration that also won't over-moisturize my curls before my next wash day! The extra hold on this gel probably means that most people won't even need to do a refresh routine for the first couple of days after washing and styling their curls, but I toss and turn so much in my sleep that no amount of perfect satin bonnet sleep protection and strong hold gel will be able to preserve my curls enough to completely eliminate my need for a refresh routine by the morning! I have a feeling that I'll keep styling with this Extra Hold Flaxseed Gel on wash day, and will then use the regular Silky Smooth Flaxseed Gel during my refresh routine if I need a bit more ultra lightweight hold! I only hope that Miribel Naturals develops a non-aerosol powdered dry shampoo and an alcohol-free hairspray next!!
